Blue Mountain friends back in touch
Phil Briggs now living in Perth, Australia, has been in touch to let us know he’s found an old school friend through the site.

Phil first met his friend David back in 1957 when he and his family moved to the Blue Mountains. Then aged 10, Phil and David went to Wentworth Falls Primary School together.

Phil explains they lost touch after primary school but met up by chance 11 years later when his family were looking for a bricklayer to build their new house
foundations.

Following the Granville Train Disaster in January 1977 (a Blue Mountains
commuter train was crushed by the road bridge killing 83 people, some of whom were Phil’s friends) he decided to move to Perth, some 2,500 miles from where he had grown up.

As a result, he lost contact with most of his friends, including David and his wife Joan.

When he registered with Who-Remembers-Me, Phil hoped he might be able to locate some of these people but at first, nothing at all.

And then last month he went through his old schools in the Blue Mountains and came upon a name he knew! It was of course David…

Phil was thrilled and surprised at finding someone from so long ago. He emailed straight away and has since heard back. He is now on the lookout for more friends from the Blue Mountains.

Please keep us posted Phil…
