Ex-RAAF wives back in touch after 30 years
Beth Curry wrote to say how thrilled she was to have found her dear friend Robyn through Who-Remembers-Me.
She and Robyn are both married to retired RAAF servicemen and back in the 1970s were based together at Williamtown in New South Wales, Australia.
“We were all very young back then, late teens & early 20s. Married life in the services was hard, with poor housing facilities and few job prospects as we were classed as "transient" by the
businesses in town.
We had a great social life though with other service families to make up for being away from our own families, and our kids grew up with
other service kids. Life was different but you made your own fun.
Both Robyn's husband Ray and my husband Wal have now retired from the RAAF and we had lost touch for many years.
Thank you so much for helping me to find Robyn.
It is great to be back in contact. We now exchange emails weekly and are planning on catching up for a few days later in the year.”
