South African Air Force servicemen back in touch
Willie Naude from South Africa wrote to say how pleased he was to reconnect with former members of the South African Air Force.

Willie joined the South African Air Force in 1978 and was involved in the Bush War from 1978 - 1987 in Angola where he was stationed at No 1 Squadron, Hoedspruit, 3 Squadron Waterkloof, and 89 Combat Flying School in Polokwane as a Technical Officer.

After leaving the Air Force in 1990 to pursue his own business, Willie lost touch with most of his Air Force friends. Until now that is…

Willie says he was thrilled to bits when, after registering his details with WRM, Johan Venter, an ex-fighter who had served in all the same squadrons as he, contacted him!

And shortly after Johan, Willie was contacted by Chris Hatting who was also involved with him on numerous missions in Angola.

“It was like a real reunion on the internet. We are currently trying to find more of our friends and are planning a huge reunion in the next year.

I can only thank you people for the initiative to put together such a fantastic database and for keeping old relationships going.”
