‘Puppy love’ found after years of searching
Bill Littlehales has been in touch to say he managed to find a dear friend through Who-Remembers-Me.com after years of searching on the internet. Bill explains:
“During my formative years, I had three distinct ‘puppy loves’. I married the third one, but never forgot the first two. Several years ago I set out looking for them. Of course without knowing anything other than their maiden names, it all seemed a little fruitless but I persevered, using Google and other search engines including social and business networking sites.
After joining Who-Remembers-Me.com, I received several ‘hits’, but no successes. A former workmate found me and we had a nice reunion but neither of my ‘puppy loves’ did.
Eventually the first one did find me through another venue; we connected via email and have had several friendly email exchanges. Then things changed. Boy, did they ever change!
The one gal I truly wanted to find, in hopes I would learn that her life had turned out well and that she was happy, found me. She said she had been looking for me for many years too.
The story begins in 1963, when I transferred from one high school to another one in the middle of a school year and then was uprooted when my family moved half-way across the country from Georgia to Colorado.
After graduation, I joined the Army and while in Europe I began wondering about my long lost girl friend. I even had my folks trying to find her, but to no avail.
I became engaged to ‘puppy love’ number three during that time and we married 41 years ago. When the Internet came about, my search was renewed with vigour but her maiden name was more common than I ever imagined. I either contacted them or they contacted me, but once again, to no avail.
My search using WRM finally resulted in a positive outcome. She saw my name and the fact that I had been looking for her and sent me an email message saying she hoped I would remember her name. Well, I was floored! Remember her name? Boy oh boy, did I! We exchanged many emails and finally a phone call. She too, had been married for a long time (38 years) and had kids and grandkids, just like me. We have reminisced and relived many happy (and a few sad) moments in our respective lives.
The ‘puppy love’ we had for each other hasn't died, but flourishes to this day, respectful of course, of our current spouses and families. Both our spouses were aware of our searches and were made aware of our reconnection and both seem supportive.”
